After being quiet for days, I can finally say it: I’m in Bangkok!
This city is gargantuan! Manila is reduced to the size of a pea compared to this place. Its awesome. Today, I successfully commuted from Thonburi to Don Muang District. That’s quite a feat, I tell you. Its uber far and I did not get lost at all, thanks to Rose’s directions.
The couple I’m staying with are absolutely wonderful. They’ve been really helpful and accommodating. They’re totally cool. I’ll be moving out this weekend. I might live in the building I work in, or if I get too scared, get a place of my own.
I’m yet to explore more of the city so I’ll totally be writing more about that. And I have to take more pictures.
So far, I’m loving BKK. I’m living the dream, baby!

there are two kinds of people in this world. the ones who stay back and let the world rule them and the ones who go out and rule the world. iris, you’re definitely one of the latter!!

ZEE: You will be too, one day. Look after my sister for me, dear.
IMAI: I plan to stay maybe a year or two and do some traveling. Of course, I have to save money! Hehehe…
RIVA: The BKK airport is HUGE! I assumed that there was only one meeting place for people but apparently, there are like 20 exits all over the airport. Si Paul wasn’t sure sad kay first time pa niya to meet somebody from this airport cz its new. Eventually, we just ran into each other. I was getting ready to check into a hostel for the night. What an adventure!

[...]I really miss her. We all grew up together, with my brother and my other cousin, (Iris’ sister) Peachy. We were the ultimate Ninja Turtles back then and we used to make up Jumanji riddles like “In the banyo you must wait, till the dice read 5 or 8″. Haha. We always find something to laugh about. It’s hard to even imagine that they’re not an hour-flight away anymore.[...]

okay so here goes:-
1) dont get lost
2) dont get mugged
3) dont let anyone else carry your bags unless you wanna spend the next 30 years in thailand luxuriating in the salubrious charms of the Bangkok Hilton.
4) ummm oh yeah, look out for great jobs
5) make lots of friends with older Kiwis or Aussies, they are quite helpful people.
6) Ummm Oh . . . have fun I guess
7) dont get lost (did I already say that)
8) Try not to deal with police unless you really have to – I hear corruption is a big deal over there
9) Keep writing
10) DOtn spend too much time writing – you could have stayed home and done that.
11) Dont spend too much time on a computer – take a note book around with you and use to take notes and stuff on your travels, adventure etc
If I think of anymore “old man’s sensible” travel tips I will let you know. LOL Now where are my slippers, pipe and my newspaper while I sit back with my cup of tea.
